Levi L. Conant Prize This prize was established in 2000 in honor of Levi L. Conant to recognize the best expository paper published in either the Notices of the AMS or the Bulletin of the AMS in the preceding five years. Leroy P. Steele Prizes In 1993, the Council formalized the three categories of the prize by naming each of them: (1) The Leroy P. Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement (2) The Leroy P. Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition (3) The Leroy P. Steele Prize for Seminal Contribution to Research. JPBM Communications Award AMS Epsilon Awards for Young Scholars Programs In 1999 the American Mathematical Society started the Epsilon Fund to help support existing summer programs for mathematically talented high school students. The name for the fund was chosen in remembrance of the late Paul Erdõs, who was fond of calling children "epsilons." Own web site The Mathematical Association of America's Deborah and Franklin Tepper Haimo Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics The Executive Committee of the Association for Women in Mathematics has established the Louise Hay Award for Contributions to Mathematics Education, to be awarded annually to a woman at the Joint Prize Session at the Joint Mathematics Meetings every January. The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding achievements in any area of mathematics education, to be interpreted in the broadest possible sense. The JPBM Communications Award was established to reward and encourage journalists and other communications who, on a sustained basis, bring acccurate mathematical information to non-mathematical audiences.
